More of Easter

Boy, oh Boy, is this commitment! I am definitely too tired to post on a blog but I'm doing it because I committed myself to doing it every day of this year! whew!

These are a few more decorations Paige and I put out for Easter today. At first I didn't like the photo. It's dark and a little blurred and it's straight out of the camera. I tried working with it a little on the computer and I just like it the way it is because the mirrored shelf is old, the bunnies are very old and it just has an antique look. The eggs are very special. A very dear lady in our church who is in her 80s paints ceramics and has been for many, many years. Every year she has painted these Easter eggs for my children and nieces and nephews for me to give as gifts as they grew up. Now that they're grown, she has been giving me one every year even though I didn't place an order for them. She is so sweet to do it and they are so special to me. She also has been painting a Christmas ornament every year for me.
Tomorrow when I have better light, I want to photograph each egg separately so you can see the detail. They are exquisite.

But, for now, goodnite all and hope you have a blessed Easter tomorrow.

Getting Ready for Easter!

I love to decorate for holidays - all holidays. I remember a restaurant in the little town my mother lives that I visited once in which the owner had a bare tree in some sort of pot close to the front door. I think the bare branches were painted white but I'm not sure of that. But she hung decorations on that tree for every occasion or holiday including Valentine's Day. I just loved that. I think she kept little white lights on it, too.

Today I went into the attic to get out my Easter/Spring decorations that I've had for years and years and I still love them. This wreath I've had for many years. It was the only decoration that made it to its place! But there's tomorrow. . .

We are having our families here on Easter so I want to decorate and clean the house. I started with the cleaning, too, but will have to finish tomorrow because I needed and wanted to sew tonight:) Easter sewing, of course!

Happy Easter and Spring to all of you!

Back From Vacation!

This where I've been for the past 4 days - near water! We were invited by some wonderful friends to come be with them at the beach and had a wonderful time. I took around 40 photos one afternoon and chose some of my favorite ones to post since I've missed posting for 4 to 5 days. I wanted to upload more but it wouldn't let me. Don't know what I'm doing wrong or if they limit you here to so many photos to upload on one post? Anyone know about that? Anyway, the blue is just beautiful, don't you think?

On this particular afternoon walk, we saw the most beautiful flowers everywhere! I don't know what this is but isn't it beautiful?!?

More of the unusual (for me, at least) and so, so beautiful!

This is one of my favorite photos because it shows how much and how strong the wind was blowing that day. It was a beautiful day but the wind was really strong. Here is that beautiful blue again but this time in the sky.

Just got lucky and caught the sunbeams here. These flowerbeds were gorgeous and they were everywhere. I just love the snapdragons.

And finally, I got this shot for my girls. This is one of their favorite flowers and I saw only one, the perfect color for my girls - PINK!! More tomorrow!

A Cooking Tip and Sex Manual Tip in One Glorious Post!

OK, so this is my blog for the year I turn 60, right? And, what, you ask is this photo? Well. . . today I wanted to make banana bread and in my recipe I use for this most of the time, I was missing one ingredient so I had to switch recipes. This was easy to do because of the accumulation of cookbooks over 37 years of marriage. So I found one and was putting all the ingredients together. I noticed a little footnote at the end of the recipe as I was working that said something to the effect that if you want the walnuts (I like to use pecans) to spread throughout the batter and not sink to the bottom, to take about a tablespoon of flour and sprinkle your nuts with the flour and this would make them spread throughout the batter.

In all my 37+ years of cooking, I'd never heard of this. My husband was on the computer in the kitchen while I was working and he is a very good and experienced cook. He was a cook in the Army National Guard for years and cooked for big, big groups of men. He knows a lot about cooking so I asked him if he'd ever heard of doing that.

This was his comment that kept me laughing for a good while: "No, I've never heard of that. It sounds like something you'd read in a sex manual. Coat your nuts with flour before you stick your banana in!" ha!

Now I hope none of you reading this are offended but as you get older, the less tactful you seem to be and certain statements just strike you as humorous! I told my mother and she had a good belly laugh from it and she's 82 this year! I didn't think she was going to quit laughing. I guess you could just say my husband has a way with words?!?

Anyway, I tried it and it worked and I thought I would share this cooking hint with all of you who come here to read. I hope you got a good belly laugh out of it, too!

Oh, I almost forgot! The photo is of my coated nuts!!! ha!

Blah, Blah!

Now I have a sunburn look on my face so I called PriMed back tonight and they told me to quit the antibiotic. But in January, I had the same flushed look in the beginning. I think it's the steroid shot they gave me. But I feel much better and did sew a LOT tonight. I appliqued 3 baby receiving blankets and one little Tshirt to make for a two-piece outfit with capris for my great niece. Also I have a burp pad ready to trim with ribbon so I feel like I had a very productive day. Just no photos. Tomorrow I should have lots of photos on my other blog bearbearcreates.blogspot.com with all these creations! It was basically a good day except for the flushed face but I feel ok otherwise. Maybe tomorrow will be a "no - blah" today! Yay!

Dear Old Auburn!

I took this photo when we went to the AU/LSU basketball game a few weeks ago. I love it. It reminds me of my college days and what a good time I had. I just love seeing these "kids" together having a good time "up on the roof"!

When I was old enough to go to college, I didn't want to go. I was too scared to go. I had never been much of anywhere but where I grew up and I was too insecure to go to college. My daddy told me I was going whether I liked it or not! I was so mad at him for that but now I am so thankful he did that. It made a big change in my life.

Dear Old Auburn I love you and always will! I was just thinking of you today for some reason.
